Linssen Yachts opts for sustainable with HVO fuel
Linssen Yachts is taking another step in its pursuit of sustainability. Since the end of last year, all new yachts leaving the yard are refuelled with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel as standard. This renewable diesel, produced from waste vegetable oils and residual waste, contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable economy.
HVO is a sustainable and environmentally friendly fuel that enables a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional fossil diesel. The use of HVO fits seamlessly with Linssen Yachts' vision not only to build high-quality and reliable yachts, but also to make a positive contribution to the environment and the living environment.
Conscious choice for a greener future
‘We are proud to take responsibility with this step and do our bit for a more sustainable future,’ said Jac Linssen of Linssen Yachts. ‘Our yachts are known for their efficiency and low fuel consumption. We hope that HVO will become available on the water in more places so that our customers can also fill up with it. ’
Benefits of HVO
HVO fuel offers several advantages for both users and the environment:
- Completely fossil-free. Made from residual waste, reducing pressure on natural resources.
- At least 85% lower life-cycle CO2e emissions.
- Reduction of particulate matter (33%), nitrogen (9%) and soot particles (30%).
- Chemically equivalent to fossil diesel and thus fully compatible with our diesel engines without modification.
With this step, the company underlines its role as innovator and market leader in the construction of environmentally conscious motor yachts.
